HKV Academy is pleased to announce that its newly developed ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 Auditor Transition Courses have been fully approved by IRCA. The HKV Academy Transition courses are designed based on a modular approach where the Annex SL module is separated from the discipline specific modules. Students will take only 2.5 days should they wish to attend the both courses.

Based on IRCA policy, all IRCA Certificated EMS/QMS Auditors must successfully complete an IRCA Certified EMS/QMS Auditor Transition Training course by 1 September 2018, in order to retain their IRCA EMS/QMS registration.

ISO/TC 176 Plenary Meetings in Hong Kong in November 2015

On 16 January 2015, Innovation and Technology Commission of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announce that The International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/Technical Committee (TC) 176 (ISO/TC 176) Plenary Meeting will be held in Hong Kong in November 2015.

“Hong Kong keenly supports the work of the ISO. We will proceed with preparations for the meeting in the coming months and look forward to support and advice from the industry and all stakeholders”,a spokesman for the Innovation and Technology Commission said.

ISO/TC 176 is responsible for creating and managing standards in the field of quality management and quality assurance which is the ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Standard, one of the most widely used ISO standards around the world and in Hong Kong. The Standard is currently under revision, and is expected to be published in September 2015.

HKV Technical Director, Mr. Howie Ng, has been actively participating the ISO/TC 176 meetings in the last five years. HKV is now offering Transition training courses to the 2015 versions of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 which are based on the Annex SL structure. TC 176/SC 2/WG 24 met in Ireland

The WG 24 met from 16 to 21 November 2014 in Galway, Ireland to process the thousands of comments from the national mirror committees, in a bid to finalize the final text of the FDIS version of the ISO 9001:2015, the 5th version of the standard.

Post meeting note: The WG 24 has decided to meet again from 16 to 20 February 2015 in Vilnius, Lithuania to finalize the FDIS version, due to be published in early 2015.

ISO 9001 top management briefing in Erdenet, Mongolia

Mr. Howie Ng, Technical Director of HKV, delivered a top management briefing on ISO 9001 to the senior management of Erdenet Mining Corporation in Erdenet, Mongolia.

Although the Erdenet Mining Corporation has been certified to ISO 9001, the audience asked good questions related to the effective implementation of the system.

Erdenet was built in 1974 to exploit Asia's largest deposit of copper ore and it is the fourth largest copper mine in the world. The "Erdenet Mining Corporation" is a joint Mongolian-Russian venture, and accounts for a majority of Mongolia's hard currency income. Erdenet mines 22.23 million tons of ore per year, producing 126,700 tons of copper and 1954 tons of molybdenum. About 8.000 people are employed in the mine.

OHSAS 18001 lead auditor course in Trivandrum, India

In collaboration with an Indian partner, HKV conducted a 5 day OHSAS 18001 lead auditor course in Trivandrum from 27 to 31 October 2014. Mr. Howie Ng, Technical Director remarked that our partners have been delivering HKV IRCA approved lead auditor courses in India for many years however this is the first time that HKV delivered training courses as south as Trivandrum. This is another milestone in the development of the Indian market.

 

HKV faculty supported ISO 50001 EnMS accreditation scheme development

Mr Howie Ng, Technical Director of HKV, was invited by the European Union to be a Senior Expert in providing technical assistance to develop and introduce the ISO 50001 EnMS accreditation scheme to the Komite Akreditasi Nasional (KAN), Indonesia. Mr. Ng shared his insights on ISO50001:2011 EnMS. The group deliberated on the ISO 50001:2011 requirements, and especially issues from the perspective of an accreditation body. The newly published ISO 50003:2014 requirements on EnMS certification bodies was also covered.

HKV delivered first ever ISO 9001 lead auditor course in Ulaanbaator, Mongolia

HKV is proud to be the first IRCA approved training organization to deliver the first ever ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Lead Auditor Course in Mongolia. The participants are very satisfied with the course, in particular the width and depth of the coverage on the subject matters. Participants also found the role play exercises especially useful and enriching.
